Kadambari Devi

Kadambari Devi was the wife of Jyotirindranath Tagore daughter-in-law of Debendranath Tagore. She was thirteen years younger than her husband. But Ravindranth Tagore and she was nearly of same age. She inspired young Rabindranath Tagore in composing many of his poems with her creative comments and feedback. She was one of those inspiring lady who played one of the most important and controversial part in Ravindranath Tagore's life. Her relationship with tagore was one of those controversial relationships that has been a important topic of discussion in every generation. She was at a time his inspiration as well as his playmate and best friend even till her marriage. However due to some unrevealed reasons she committed suicide within four months of Tagore's marriage. Tagore Family had always remained silent about this controversial suicide. But many a time it has been heard some family problem actually leads to this suicide. After Kadambari Devi's death, Tagore was completely broken. He took what is known as "Chuti". Till many days after her death, Tagore was still writing poems and songs reminding her.
